point being..?
Holding a festival for a land not everyone comes from, and a culture not everyone is familiar with has several purposes, I suppose. I assume obvious reasons like socialization, recreation, and an excuse to make us learn about each other, are included.

Things like that mean nothing to me.

It's not a required event, I suppose, but it's plain that attendance is encouraged.

I have already learned that Kira Yagami Light is going to be there. I'm not looking forward to this, but it might be in my interest to go as well.

Plus that Near has been ranting about it. He thinks he's so smart--socially retarded brat--

I need a fucking Yukata.

Without the others here it would seem that we must do things which normally would not be our job. However, it would seem that you are still stuck on Yagami Light even after the case has been solved.

The case was closed three years ago, just after you and Matt lost to Kira. In the end Light lost to the Shinigami.

There were a number of different ways to use the note, but it was we I who had the concrete evidence.

Yes I will be attending, this room is uninhabitable currently.
